Get Your Red (neck) On

Kick back, disconnect, run away and get your "neck" on. Your redneck, that is.

Last weekend, Mr. Wilson and I shamelessly launched ourselves into the day of (being alone) sporting the Harley as our only accessory. Well, that and our helmets… and my camera…and this VERY sexy hat I bought; anyway, we took off for the hills- literally.

A change of scenery is always a welcome diversion, but it’s especially welcome when you are a Northern gal used to the mountains who has become a transplant in beautiful (but FLAT) Savannah, Ga. Hightailing it north, we found ourselves in the rolling countryside outside of Metter, Ga. With regard to mileage, it wasn’t that far of a trip, as the crow flies. We took the extended scenic route, so our trip was roughly 100 miles. What a beautiful day for a road trip…perfect weather, not too hot, not too cold. Sunshine and blue skies. Happy, shinning faces and lunch (just the two of us) at a small, local, restaurant.

Toto, I don’t think we’re in Savannah anymore.

Suffice it to say that it was a great afternoon, spent with my favorite person- doing exactly what it is that we love best…being together. Oh yeah, and the woot- wooting, cheering, hollering, dirt slingin’, tractor loving, four wheel riding, mud boggin’ country crowd was pretty awesome too. Go figure- I felt totally at home.

Nothing like getting your redneck on, "Mud Bog" style.

  1. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. When our son was younger he restored an old CJ-7 and on warm days (rare here in Oregon) he'd take the top and doors off and we'd drive up Mt. Hood and have a great time. I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. Ahhh- gotta love those old CJ-7s. I wish we had one now! I've been up to Mt. Hood; I bet that was a heck of a good time!
Hope you had a nice weekend too!

    1. Oh it was fun- then we all went to Atlanta to the Aquarium...I took some great nite shots of Little Five Points. Seanie loved the aquarium and even the 18 year old got into it:)

  3. That looks like fun (and I'm a northern girl too) a Harley you say... the guy I am currently seeing has a motorcycle (not a Harley) that he desperately wants to take me out on and I confess I'm petrified, for good reason that I won't go into here!

    1. I hope you get over your fear- as long as he's a good rider.
The bike gives a sense of freedom that you don't find anywhere else.
I cant wait for the little one to go visit his Dad this summer. We're taking a trip back up into the mountains of Ga.

  5. This made me smile! It reminds me of the time I went to my one and only tractor pull in KC MO. It was indoors. I was wiping black stuff out of my eyes and blowing it out of my noses for days. It was really loud and I had a riot!

My favorite times, day or night, are with Alpha Hubby. We have so much fun, even on little road trips. We talk like we haven't seen each other in years. Loved this post!!

I love to go with Mr. Wilson too and if we're not on the bike we talk like crazy. 'Course, even on the bike we talk like crazy. We're developing our own form of sign language:)
